You may have watched the recent Carte Blanche episode featuring a new technique of performing knee replacement surgery. Mention is made of a kinematic alignment technique and in so doing, restoring the pre-arthritis alignment of your knee (as the Carte Blanche surgeon says “making your knee like it was when you were 21”). Dr Dillon also uses this principle of kinematic alignment to perform his knee replacement operations and has done extensive reading and training in this regard. The addition of Computer Assisted Surgery and more recently “Robotically Assisted Surgery” allows more accurate execution of this alignment philosophy.
