ACL surgery, recovery…. and running like a champ!

The Puffer is a hectic 80km annual trail run event that starts in the Cape Point Nature Reserve and runs along the spine of the Cape Peninsula Mountains and ends at Hamilton Rugby Club in Green Point. It is a gruelling challenge and not the faint hearted.

I received this beautiful email from one of my patients, Izette Mostert, after she recently successfully completed this race. Congratulations Izette…you are a superstar!

Here follows her email along with some pics of her experience which, with her permission, I share with you.

Hi Dr Dillon,

Of course you can’t remember all the patients you see… but I visited you in a teary state in August 2014 for an ACL reconstruction after a terrible start at my first Comrades marathon. (You might recall the silly accident, climbing over a contraption at the start and tearing my ACL)

Then with your incredible operating skills, Karen Esterhuyse’s physio skills…. and diligently doing my daily exercises I returned to running by the end of 2014.
Got back to the 2015 Comrades to get my unfinished business sorted and this year… 2016, I feel fitter than ever before.

I did the Comrades again and improved my time with an hour!
Then, I did the PUFfeR…. With a huge amount of trail, climbing and some crazy downhills….

So this is just a huge thank you for what you have done…. and to Karen, for being there with her needles and strong hands.

Regards,
Izette
