ACL RECONSTRUCTION
Rehabilitation 1 to 3 months
- Walking: You can start full weight bearing without crutches.
- Cycling: You can start cycling on a stationary bicycle after 6 weeks.
- Swimming: Freestyle swimming can commence after 6 weeks. It is important not to do a breaststroke kick until 3 months after surgery.
- Golf: Putting and chipping practice can commence after 6 weeks. This is a great opportunity to work on your short game as a return to a full swing can only safely be recommended after completion of the full 6 month rehabilitation program.
- Biokinetic rehabilitation: This is to start at 6 weeks after surgery and will include intensive rehabilitation with special emphasis on strengthening the quadriceps, hamstring and calf muscles.
