How much does the prosthesis weigh?
The weight of all the components ranges from 380g to 460g.
How long after the surgery can I fly?
Domestic flights: 10 Days.
International flights: 3 Months.
What sport can I participate in after the TKR?
Running: Only if your life depends upon it!
Hiking: 3 months.
Cycling: Stationary bike from 6 weeks. Normal bike from 3 months.
Golf: Short game from 4 weeks. Regular play from 3 months.
Tennis: Only doubles from 3 months.
Swimming: 2 weeks.
Surfing/SUPing: 3 months.
Do I need antibiotics for dentist appointments?
This is controversial, but I believe that one cannot be too cautious in preventing infection. I therefore advise you to take a simple antibiotic (such as Zinnat 500mg) one hour prior to any dental procedure. It is not necessary for a routine dental inspection/check-up. Contact us and we will provide you with prescription.
What is the difference in recovery time for a bilateral TKR?
All the recovery milestones are delayed by about 2 weeks, but by three months the recovery is on par with a single TKR.
Can I paint my toenails before the surgery?
If you are habit of doing it is advisable that you do not do so less that 1 week before the TKR operation
