First 24 hours after surgery
You will spend 30 to 60 minutes in the recovery area in theatre before returning to the ward. If you have a medical condition that we are concerned about, you may need to spend the first night in our high care ward under closer observation.
We do NOT routinely use any wound drains or urinary catheters.
The physiotherapist will come to see you later on the day of surgery to help you to take your first steps with the aid of a walking frame or two crutches. It is very important that you do not try to get up on your own.
